He was a native of Germany, coming to America with his parents and settling with them in Lan-caster County, Pennsylvania, where he passed his youthful years, and in his early manhood removed fur-ther west, locating in Clearfield County, where he became a farmer, and subsequently married. He then removed to the Bald Eagle mountains in Centre County and entered the employ of the Bald Eagle Iron Works, spending the re-mainder of his life there.
