General Notes: Husband - Amos Kunkle

He was born in Hempfield township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, on the old family homestead farm. During a greater portion of his active career he was actively identified with agricultural pursuits, but for a number of years he was also engaged in the lumbering business. Later in life he retired from business and maintained his home in Greensburg. He was a stalwart Republican in politics, and both he and his wife were active and devoted members of the First Reformed church.

He was born in Hempfield township, Westmoreland County, PA, and was educated in the common schools. At the age of twenty-one he went to Greensburg, where for eleven years he was engaged with his brother Daniel in the planing-mill business. He then returned to the home farm, which he cultivated on behalf of his mother during the remainder of her life, his father being then deceased. After the death of his mother he bought the farm and resided there until 1900, when he sold the coal land, retaining a large portion of the estate, and moved to Greensburg, where he was engaged in building and selling houses. While living on the farm he served as a member of the school board in his district. He was a Republican in politics, and for several years filled the offices of deacon and elder in the First Reformed church, of which he became one of the trustees.
