General Notes: Husband - Joseph Boyd


He was employed on the canal from Franklin, PA, to Meadville for three years, and also on a canal near Cleveland. He bought land in New Vernon Township, Mercer County, PA, where he lived for over fifty years. He helped to build the Mercer court-house. He united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1825, and for twenty years was blind in one eye and was later totally blind. He was a man of exceptionally good memory, pure character and an earnest, Christian. He was a stanch Republican, and was taken to every election.


General Notes: Wife - Rhoda Axtell


She died after a lingering illness of twelve years. She was a devoted member of
the Presbyterian Church.
