General Notes: Husband - James McPherson Russell
He read law with James Riddle, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, and was admitted to the Franklin County bar November 10, 1807. The year following, he settled in Bedford, Pennsylvania, and soon acquired a large practice. He held a number of civil offices, was trustee of the Bedford Academy, treasurer of the Chambersburg and Bedford Turnpike company during its construction, and chief burgess of the borough. He was a member of the constitutional convention of 1837-8, and served as a member of the Twenty-seventh Congress.
[NQ 1884, 147] gives a very different account of his children.
