General Notes: Husband - Clarence John Kline
He was born in his father's home on Otterman street, Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and made that city his home and the scene of his busy and active career. As a child he became a pupil in the local public schools, being but six years old when he entered, and there he remained until he had reached the age of twenty years. He then gave up his studies and began the practice of the engineering profession for which he had prepared himself. He graduated from the High School at Greensburg, and at once secured a position in the engineering department of the Keystone Coal Company. Here he remained for some two years and then became associated with the Frick Coke Company in the same capacity. Another two years were thus spent, and he then entered the Mount Pleasant Coke Company and was associated with this concern for many years. While with the Mount Pleasant Coke Company, Mr. Kline was thrown into contact with the late Mr. W. A. Wilson, a man of the most extraordinary virtues and talents, and always took great pride in the fact. Mr. Kline was a great admirer of this great-hearted and high-minded gentleman, and before the death of Mr. Wilson they were warm personal friends and associates. When he first entered the Mount Pleasant Coke Company it was in the capacity of civil engineer, but he was later advanced to the position of manager and finally to that of treasurer. Mr. Kline was also prominent in many other departments of the community's life: he was a member of the local lodge of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. In politics he was an independent and never allowed his judgment to be clouded by partisan considerations of any kind. Mr. Kline and his family were all members of the Reformed Church of Greensburg, and were active in the work of the congregation.
