General Notes: Husband - Asaph Kirk

Penn Twp, Clearfield Co, PA

He early became familiar with agricultural pursuits on the home farm, where he remained until his marriage. He began his domestic life on a tract of 151 acres given him by his father, known as the John Kirk farm, of which he cleared seventy-five or eighty acres. The log cabin into which he moved was replaced in 1861 by a substantial and commodious two-story residence, and a large barn was erected in 1877.
Politically, Mr. Kirk was identified with the Republican party, and served his fellow citizens in the offices of school director and supervisor one term. A man of strong religious faith, he was a prominent member of the Society of Friends.
