He inherited a farm in Rayne Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, from his father. He was occupied as a miller at Shelocta, in Armstrong Township, Indiana County. He died at the age of eighty-four. He and his wife were Presbyterians in religious belief, and he adhered to the principles of the Republican Party.
