General Notes: Husband - George A. Miller
He was educated in the place where he was born, but when eighteen or twenty years of age left Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and removed to Washington County, where he learned the carpenter's trade. He married, at the age of twenty-seven years, and remained in Washington County until thirty-five years old, when he came to Donegal township, Westmoreland County, and there continued to follow his trade. He purchased a farm of fifty acres in that region and later added to it by a second purchase of sixty-two acres and farmed there until his death.
He was a Republican in politics, and held the post of supervisor of Donegal township for a number of years. He was a veteran of the Civil War, and a member of Stahlstown Post, Grand Army of the Republic. He was a Methodist in his religious belief and attended the church of that denomination at Stahlstown, where he was class leader, superintendent of the Sunday school, and also taught there. He also held the post of trustee in the church.
