General Notes: Husband - Horace Brown King
He was eight years of age when his parents settled in McKean County, Pennsylvania, where he resided on the farm at East Potato Creek for over twenty-one years. He became a farmer and a lumberman, being successful as both. Later he was appointed crier of district court at Smethport, a position he held over thirty years. He was a Democrat originally, but voted for Abraham Lincoln and ever afterward acted with the Republican party. He was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Smethport for over a half a century, his father having been a class leader, steward and trustee of the same church for many years. Horace B. King joined the church when very young and all his life bore a full share of church burdens.
Besides his son George W., he had several others who all died young.
