General Notes: Husband - Harlan(d) P. Sandles

He accompanied his parents to Clarksburg, Pennsylvania, when still a small lad, and there attended the independent school. Later he was a student at the academies at Eldersridge and Glade Run, and worked with his parents until his father's death, at which time the home farm was divided between him and his brother Marshall. Mr. Sandles owned and conducted farming on 125 acres of well-cultivated land. He made a specialty of raising fine horses, conducted a stud, and his animals brought topnotch prices in the eastern markets. Mr. Sandles was a member of the new Progressive party, but was never an office seeker. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and a member and trustee of the Clarksburg Presbyterian Church, where for some years he was teacher of an adult Bible class.
