General Notes: Husband - Joseph Van Eman
When he reached maturity he left the paternal roof and located on a farm (later owned by Thomas Slater) in Cecil township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, which he afterward sold, and then, in 1818, bought one near where Van Eman station was later located on Chartiers Railroad, in the same township, and there passed the remainder of his days.
He and his wife were members of the Centre Presbyterian Church in Peters township, in which for forty years he was a ruling elder. He was a man of superior mind, and of more than ordinary intelligence and executive ability. He was a director of the poor of Washington county, executor and trustee for many estates, and enjoyed the fullest confidence and highest respect of the community at large.
He died in 1875. [BRWC, 272]
