He was born in Alsace, Germany, and came to Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1833. He engaged in the merchant tailor trade and clothing business. The store was located opposite the Lewis house, on Philadelphia street, the firm being, in later years, L. Keslar & Son, his son, Lawrence, Jr., being associated with him.
