General Notes: Husband - William McWilliams
He was born in Ireland and in 1788 emigrated to the United States. He settled near Murrysville, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he took up two hundred acres of land. He was an elder in the United Presbyterian church, of which he and his wife were members.
He and his wife were the parents of seven children, three of whom were born in the land of their ancestors. He lived to a very old age.
He was a native of county Donegal, Ireland, who shortly after his marriage came to the United States, locating in what is now Franklin township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he took out a patent for some three hundred acres of land near Murrysville. He was a very early settler there and frequently when plowing carried a gun strapped on his back to protect himself from the Indians. [BHCWC, 732]
