General Notes: Husband - David Proudfoot

---

He and his brother, Robert, emigrated to America from Scotland about the year 1759, and settled in York County, Pennsylvania. Two of their brothers, Andrew and James, had preceded them to this country.
He was a farmer by occupation.

David Morrow Proudfit, in his Proudfit Genealogy, says of him: "David was a farmer of wonderful dispatch in business. He was an admirer of good blacksmithing, and when he would see good work would compare it to the work of one William McKelvie, who was his ideal. He would say, 'That is just such a job as Billy McKelvie would do with his own iron.' "
