General Notes: Husband - Dr. John Carleton Bachop


He completed his public school education at the age of thirteen, after which he became a student at Westminster College, and after remaining at that institution for six years was graduated with the degree of A. B. Soon after his graduation in June, 1873, he commenced to teach and taught eight years and during that time commenced the study of medicine under Dr. Thomas Galbraith, of Tarentum, Pennsylvania. Dr. Bachop afterward pursued his regular professional course in the medical department of the University of Michigan, from which he was graduated in 1883 with the degree of M. D. and immediately commenced practice at Sheakleyville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Mercer County Medical Association and the Pennsylvania State Medical Society. An independent in politics he took an active part in the local government, serving for many terms as a member of the village school board and in other civic capacities. His religious faith was that of Methodism.
