General Notes: Husband - Samuel Rank
He was born in Union County, Pennsylvania. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker by trade. He came to Lycoming County, where he married and during the same year, they came to Indiana County, and settled where Cherry Tree village was later located. He erected a hewed log house in which they lived, and which was also used for a cabinet and carpenter shop, as well as sometimes for church purposes. They were members of the Methodist church, and he filled the capacity of local minister. He being the only mechanic of that kind in the neighborhood, did all the undertaking and cabinet making for several miles around. Politically, he was reared a Democrat, but at the time the Abolition party was raging he connected himself with them, and was at that time the only one in the vicinity of what is now Cherry Tree village. They lived in their hewed log house until in 1839, when he purchased and moved onto a farm later owned by his son C. P. Rank, located in Cooper's district, Montgomery township, where he remained until his death.
