Soon after his third child was born he moved to Connecticut. From Connecticut he came by sea to Baltimore, Maryland, and from there to Adams County, Pennsylvania, where he followed the avocation of farming until near the end of his life. His wife died in Adams County and after her death he removed to Allegheny County, to which locality his son had preceded him, and there he died at an advanced age.
