General Notes: Husband - Reid Kennedy
He was educated in Westminster College, from which institution he was graduated in 1889. He had earned his college tuition and expenses by working in the steel mills of Homestead, Pennsylvania, and after his graduation he became a roller in the Armor Plate Mills, continuing thus for three years, then beginning real estate dealing. He contracted numerous other connections and this feature of his business life was gradually relegated to the background, the importance of his newer associations being much greater. Mr. Kennedy was one of the organizers of the Homestead National Bank, of which he later became president, and upon the organization of the Monongahela Trust Company in 1901 became its president. At about the same time Mr. Kennedy became associated with Mr. W. M. Henderson in the Henderson Coal Company, eventually holding the position of secretary, the company's offices being in the Commonwealth Building of Pittsburgh. He was also secretary and treasurer of the Orient Coke Company, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Mr. Kennedy was the owner of considerable real estate in Homestead, although his other business interests prevented his giving it his entire attention.
His political belief was Republican, and for one term he served as burgess of Homestead. His interest in local affairs was strong and active. [GPHWP, 601]
