George Lusher, Joy retiree
George E. Lusher, 75, of Franklin RD 1, a retired Joy Manufacturing Co. employee, died at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday in his home following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 4, 1911, in Rockland, he was a son of Perry E. and Hattie Myers Smith Lusher.
He was married to the former Kathryn "Kitty" Bacher on Nov. 30, 1934, and she survives.
He spent his early life in Rockland, and attended public schools there and in Franklin.
Mr. Lusher retired in 1976 from Joy Manufacturing Co. where he had worked in the tool room since 1951.
Prior to that, he was employed as a truck driver for Judson Dairy from 1928 to 1951. He also worked several oil leases in the area.
In 1942, he was appointed fire warden by the Department of Forest and Waters, a position he held from 1942 to 1952.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and The Rosary Altar Society of the church.
He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Eileen Lusher of Franklin; three sons, Paul Edward Lusher, Ronald L. Lusher, and James R. Lusher, all of Franklin; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers LeRoy and Wayne Lusher; a sister, Ruby Graham; a half-brother, John Smith; two half-sisters, Ethel Milford and Lura Lux; and twin grandsons.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Huff Chapel.
A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Church with Very Rev. John R. Snyder, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
The family suggests donations may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County.

GEORGE LUSHER
A funeral mass for George E. Lusher, 75, of Franklin RD 1, was celebrated in St. Patrick's Church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Lusher, a retired Joy Manufacturing Co. employee, died Wednesday afternoon at his home.
Monsignor Robert Bacher of Cleveland was the principle celebrant with the Very Rev. John R. Snyder, pastor at St. Patrick's as co-celebrant. The Children's Choir sang.
Interment was in St. Patrick's Cemetery and the pall-bearers were James R. Lusher Jr., John P. Lusher, Greg R. Spence, Philip A. Vance, Ronald L. Linderman and William E. Keely.
Attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Philip Vance, Bay City, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ramsdale, Sharon; Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Reagle, Erie.
Friday evening Father Snyder led the rosary service in the Huff Chapel.

LUSHER-BACHER.
Miss Kathryn Bacher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bacher, and George Lusher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Lusher, both of this city, were married on Friday at the parochial residence by Rev. Thomas B. Downey, pastor of St. Patrick's Church.
They were attended by Miss Helen Rice, aunt of the bride, and Lewis Clayton, of Sandy Lake.
Mrs. Lusher is a graduate of Sacred Heart School, Class of 1932 and Mr. Lusher attended the Franklin High School. He is employed at Judson's Dairy.
Both have a host of friends here who extended best wishes.
