General Notes: Husband - David R. Kennedy
He was born on the old homestead in Muddy Creek township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, was educated in the old log school house of his neighborhood, and was engaged in agriculture up to his retirement, turning over his farm of 140 acres to his sons.
In April, 1861, when the first call was made for troops by President Lincoln, he accompanied a squad of thirty men from his neighborhood, all of whom joined Company H, Thirteenth Pennsylvania Volunteers. He served three months, the full term of his enlistment.
He was a Republican, and held the offices of assessor, collector and school director. He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian church of Portersville, in which he held the office of treasurer for a number of years.
