He was born on the old family homestead which sheltered so many of the Lias family, in Wayne town­ship, Armstrong County, PA, and followed farming all of his active life. For many years he was an import-­
ant factor in the Methodist Church, and on the school board, and always voted and supported the Republican ticket from the time he attained his majority.
