General Notes: Husband - Samuel Ayres
Of the county Antrim, Province of Ulster, Ireland, he was born of Scottish Covenanter ancestors. He arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with his wife and daughters, in 1745. The voyage across the ocean was protracted, causing much suffering for want of water. After the death of his wife he moved to the Scotch-Irish settlement at Deep Run, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where he later died.
He brought his family to America about 1744, landing in Philadelphia. Following the Scotch-Irish path, he went to "Deep Run church," now in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where he died. His family retraced its steps to within a dozen miles of Philadelphia, and settled permanenty at what later was called Beth-ayres station, on the route to New York (so named by Franklin Ayres Comly, president N. P. R. R., a descendant.)
