General Notes: Husband - John Shoup


When sixteen years of age [about 1828], he came to America with his parents from Prussia, Germany. They sailed from Hamburg and on landing in the United States settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. After remaining there for a time they removed to Ligonier township, Westmoreland County.

He was a farmer all his life, but never a landowner. In politics he was a Democrat. He and his wife were members of the German Evangelical Lutheran church of Ligonier.
