General Notes: Husband - John Jones
He was born in Wales, came to America with his brother and settled in Berks County, Pennsylvania. His brother was killed while target shooting, and John came in 1793 to Fayette County with his father-in-law, Mordecai Lincoln and his family, settling in North Union township on the tract where now the Youngstown Coke Works were later situated. The families together bought five hundred acres, and here John Jones died in 1802, two months prior to the birth of his son John.
He remained on the old farm until the death of his father-in-law, Mordecai Lincoln, when he became its purchaser. He lived there until he died, and was buried in the family burying-ground where his father-in-law and other members of the family had been laid.
[His son John] was the grandson of one of the first settlers of Hummeltown, near Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. [HFC 1882, 691] Suggesting that his father immigrated as well.
