Civil War: he was a soldier in the 102d Penn. Regt., returning home in 1865. He came to own and occupy the homestead entered by his grandfather Smith, on which the family had since resided; he had a farm of 150 acres of well-improved land, with good buildings.
He served as Commissioner of Venango Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
