General Notes: Husband - Hugh Lackey
He was educated in the country schools, and in the academy of Greenville, Pennsylvania, where he studied some of the higher branches. He taught a number of terms of school, perhaps twenty in all. He settled, at his marriage, on the old homestead.
He suffered from the loss of one eye, which was put out by a stick striking him while chopping.
He served as poor director, to which position he was elected by the Republican party. He was for ten years a justice of the peace, was township assessor, auditor and school director. He was once connected with the Grange lodge. He and wife were members of the Presbyterian Church, of which he was an elder for twenty-five years. He was a superintendent of the Sunday-school of their neighborhood, which was organized before any church was near.
