General Notes: Husband - Alfred Maurhoff
He attended school at Saxonburg, PA, and later assisted his father, but after purchasing his own farm devoted himself to its cultivation and improvement. He raised grain, hay and potatoes and some stock. He also conducted a general store at Saxonburg for four years, and was also drilling for oil on his farm. He served in the Civil War and was honorably discharged in August, 1863.
He and his family were members of the German Lutheran Church at Hamastown, in which he frequently served as a member of the Council.
