General Notes: Husband - Edwin James
He received a public school education and learned the trade of ropemaker, becoming known as a skillful and industrious tradesman. Politically he was a Whig in early life, later a Republican, and he and his family were Methodists in religious association. He was the father of seventeen children by two marriages.
