General Notes: Husband - Clark Knott
He was in the U. S. regular service for twenty-two years. He was in the Mexican war, as a member of company B, 2d Kentucky volunteers, and served twelve months. He was in the 1st U. S. regulars, from 1857 to to 1862; the 13th U. S. regulars, from 1862, to March 20th, 1879. He was first sergeant at the time of being mustered out of service, and had held the position for twelve years, and before this time, was sergeant for ten years. Among the battles in which he was engaged, were: Beuna Vista, (Mexican war), Chickasaw bayou, Arkansas Post, Champion hills, the first battle at Vicksburg, Jackson, Colliersville, Mission Ridge, &c. He was never wounded, though taking part in hundreds of lesser engagements and skirmishes.
In early life he went to Kentucky and at one time was Assistant Adjutant General of the State.
