General Notes: Husband - John Artman
To him and his brother Michael descended the old family homestead in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
He was born near Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and came to Allegheny township during early boyhood. He occupied the old family homestead, together with some two hundred and forty acres of fine farm land in the neighborhood. Part of this land had been cleared of the forest which originally grew there by himself, and he was altogether a very successful farmer and erected a handsome brick house on the property about 1840. This mansion was considered one of the finest of its kind in the county at the time that it was built.
He was active in the Lutheran church in that region.
