General Notes: Husband - Abraham Artman

The Artman family was founded in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in the year 1802, when Abraham Artman came from Hempfield township to Allegheny township. He was of German extraction. There was an old deed of his dated August 15, 1783, and signed by John Dickinson for the State of Pennsylvania which granted him land situated two miles south of Leechburg, near a small stream now named Pinerun. This tract of land lay between Kiskiminetas Old Town and Chartiers Creek, at that time the property of an Englishman, Samuel Wetherill, and named Bartramburg, and came into possession of the Artman family in 1802.
