As he was an infant at the time of his mother's death, he was taken to the home of a maternal uncle, William Kirk, with whom he remained until reaching manhood. He then returned to Luthersburg, and took charge of the old homestead farm. A thorough and skillful agriculturist, he has met with success in its operation, and came to be numbered among the most prosperous citizens of Brady township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
