General Notes: Husband - Hugh C. Leech
His early life was passed in Pike township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, where he acquired his education, and in 1861 he moved to Bloom township, purchasing a good farm of eighty acres, to the improvement and cultivation of which he devoted his time and attention until his enlistment in the Union service. In 1864 he joined Company C, 100th P. V. I., for one year or until the close of the war. He was assigned to the Army of the James, with which he participated in the battle of Fort Steadman, and was honorably discharged at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1865. Returning to his home in Bloom township, he resumed farming.
Mr. Leech used his right of franchise in support of the men and measures of the Republican party, and took a prominent part in public affairs, assisting in the organization of Bloom township. For two years he served as justice of the peace, and also filled the offices of school director and assessor. In religious belief he was a Baptist.
