General Notes: Husband - John Roy
He assisted in establishing American Independence as a member of the Provincial Congress of New Jersey, May 29, 1775. He was one of the deputies appointed for the County of Somerset to join with other deputies in the state in forming a plan for the militia of the Province. At a meeting of the citizens of Somerset County, July 4, 1774 a committee was appointed to represent the colony in the proposed Congress and among those selected were John Roy.
John Roy was Justice of the Peace 1752-54; 1767-68; Terminer and Judge Oyer, 1767-69; 1770-1772; Judge of the Common Pleases 1769-72; Justice of the Quorm and Member of the Provincial Congress 1775-76.
