He received his education in the common schools of the district, and commenced at quite an early age to assist his father on the farm. Upon attaining manhood he commenced farming operations for himself, in which he met with unvaried success. In connection with the cultivation of his farm, he commenced to deal in live stock, and did an extensive business in this direction.
