General Notes: Husband - Edward Philip Young
After completing his schooling, he took a business course at the Butler Business College and began his business career as secretary to Hon. M. L. Lockwood. He went to West Virginia after three years and became interested in the coal business there. Later, he traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Cuba and the Isle of Pines, and upon his return to Zelienople in 1904 he was appointed cashier of the newly organized Peoples National Bank. In 1916 Mr. Young purchased a furniture business, which was known as the Zehner Furniture Company. It was one of the city's largest business houses.
He took an active part in local politics and served as auditor and treasurer of the borough as well as president of the school board. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and belonged to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Rotary Club, and Elwood Country Club.
