He came to America from Holland and settled in Pennsylvania in 1742.

He came to America from Holland and settled in Huntingdon (later Centre) County, Pennsylvania, at the headwaters of Spruce creek.

On coming to America they settled in what was then Lancaster (later Dauphin) County, Pennsylvania. They had seven sons (daughters also), and all the sons served in the Revolutionary army under Washington; two, John and Peter, remained together, and all trace of the others was lost by the branch of the family here under consideration.
