General Notes: Husband - Quincey A. Ruff
He was reared on a farm where he remained until he was twenty-one years of age. His education was obtained in the common schools and Westmoreland college, which was in existence from 1849 to 1871 at Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. In 1858 he commenced teaching in the common schools of South Huntingdon township and taught for eleven years in that and other townships of the county. In 1869 he removed to Ruffsdale, where he became its pioneer merchant and continually increased his original stock of goods until his store became the leading mercantile establishment of his section. He carried a large and complete stock of dry goods, groceries, tobacco, notions, hardware, confectionaries and tinware.
In political matters Mr. Ruff held to the tenets of the Republican party. He was a member of the Jr. O. U. A. M., I. O. of O. F. and the Presbyterian church, of which his wife was also a member.
Notes: Marriage
They were married in 1846. [BHCWC, 631] This seems unlikely.
