He was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. [HAC 1914, 620]
He was born in Franklin county, Pennsylvania, where the family resided for several years. He was a soldier in the War of 1812, and served as postmaster of Jacksonville, Indiana County, for four years. [HIC 1880, 411]
He was one of the pioneer settlers Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
He and his wife were the parents of fourteen children, most of whom reached maturity.
