General Notes: Husband - Cassius A. Ashton
In 1850 his parents came from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Sharon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, where he grew to manhood, receiving his primary education in the public schools, subsequently taking a commercial course in Iron City College, Pittsburgh. He clerked for several years, and in 1870 purchased the grocery house of C. N. Prindle & Son, which he then carried on, and became one of the leading grocers of Sharon. Mr. Ashton is a Republican, a member of the Masonic fraternity, I. O. O. F., K. of P., and K. of G. E. He was agent for the Erie Express Company at Sharon, and was one of the progressive, enterprising business men of the town. [HMC 1888, 705]
