General Notes: Husband - John W. Reed
He removed at an early age with his parents to Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and learned the moulder's trade and worked in the old Clarion foundry. At the outbreak of the civil war he enlisted in the Federal army as a member of Company F, Sixty-third Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry, under the command of Captain B. F. Reed, and died of "swamp fever" in 1862. [GPHAV, 1034]
He was born in Butler County, Pennsylvania, was reared there, and learned the trade of machinist, which he followed until his enlistment at Clarion in the Union army in the fall of 1861. He became a member of Company F, 63d Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and died after the battle of Fair Oaks, of typhoid fever. ]HJC 1917 II, 19]

She was born March 1, 1832, in Centre County. [HJC 1917 II, 19]
Her parents died when she was very young, her father being burned to death in his saw mill in Butler County, Pennsylvania, and she and her only brother Charles, were never certain as to which was their proper name "Kephart" or "Everhart."
