He was of French ancestry.
He was married in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and came to Clarion County about 1816, locating in Beaver township, when the country was all wild and unimproved. Indians were numerous but friendly. From the wild land he developed a good farm, making it his home until called from this life, at the age of seventy-seven years. He was a consistent member of the Reformed Church.
