General Notes: Husband - Jacob E. Hugus


He was reared on a farm and educated in the common schools. During his boyhood and youth, he engaged in farming, continuing to follow that pursuit until June, 1889, when he purchased a half interest in a general store at Turnip Hole, and in December, 1892, he became sole proprietor.
In his political affiliations Mr. Hugus was a Democrat, and, in 1894, under President Cleveland's administration, was appointed postmaster of Turnip Hole.
He and his wife were members of the Reformed Church.
