In about 1803-04 two brothers, John and Peter Walter, came to the area of southern Venango County, Pennsylvania, to secure land more cheaply than it could be obtained in the more settled parts of the State. They settled two miles apart, Peter near the old log church two miles north of John, where he lived and died.
