General Notes: Husband - Samuel Smith Armstrong

He was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and there passed the greater part of his life. In his early manhood he was engaged in the drug business, but later took up farming on the old Armstrong family homestead, where he remained for many years. He later lived in retirement at New Kensington.
He served for a short period with the Union forces during the Civil War in pursuit of the Confederate raider, General Morgan.
