General Notes: Husband - Sylvester McAninch
He was born and reared in Beaver township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. In 1861 he removed to Knox township and purchased of John Kirker the farm later known as the Hawthorne place. From Mr. Kirker he later bought a tract adjacent to one corner of his original farm of 160 acres, which he had sold after making various improvements. On the second farm he erected a house and barn and there he and his wife passed the residue of their lives. He brought the major part of his land under cultivation and this old homestead was situated about one mile northwest of the home of Henry H., his son, who contributed his share to its reclamation.
He served many years as justice of the peace and was familiarly known as Squire McAninch. He gave his support to the cause of the Republican party and both he and his wife were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
