General Notes: Husband - George Kean

---

When he arrived at the age of manhood, he followed boating on the Susquehanna river, until he was married. He visited Venango County, Pennsylvania, in company with his brother, William, and returned to Mifflin County. In 1802 he came back, and built a house about one mile south of where Dempseytown would be located, on what was then called "vacant land." On the 16th of June, 1803, he came with his wife and two children, his sister, and her husband, Charles Stevenson, and took possession of his log cabin. His home was in what is now Oakland township.
