He came to Cussewago Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, from Connecticut, in 1816, taking forty-two days with an ox-team. He followed the trade of carpenter and erected many of the buildings in this and adjoining townships.
His son Sheldon was the seventh of eleven children.
