General Notes: Husband - William Rape
He spent a happy, useful boyhood under the protection and care of his parents. When opportunity offered he went to the district school but spent many days in hard work, helping to finish the clearing of the land and later in cultivating it. He remained at home until he was first married. In September, 1870, he bought a farm from James Bolton, on which he then made many substantial improvements. It was valuable land in terms of its fertility and also on account of its excellent situation, and also on account of oil being found here, there being two wells on the farm.
In politics, he was a stanch Republican. He took an active interest in township affairs and served in a number of offices, being supervisor for five years, clerk for two years and overseer of the poor for two years.
He had eleven children with his first wife; besides those listed, there were five deceased before 1909.
