General Notes: Husband - Henry Hosack
He settled early on the Samuel Hosack place, having emigrated there from near Gettysburg, Adams County, PA. The Hosack family consisted of fourteen members, of whom a part came out in the fall, and the balance the next spring.
In 1800 Henry Hosack entered Findley Township, Mercer County, PA, having removed from near Gettysburg, Adams County. He brought with him his entire family, consisting of fourteen members, and located on the farm subsequently owned by Samuel Hosack. The Hosacks became a very influential family. [HMC 1888, 527]
Emigrating to America when a young man, he settled first in Adams County, PA. In 1801 he came with his family to Mercer County, bought land in the northern part of what is now Findley Township, and from the wilderness began the arduous task of clearing a farm. His efforts were crowned with success, and on the homestead which he improved he and his wife spent their remaining years. They had a large family of children, sixteen in number.
